• Athlete of the Month – May 2013

    -1This month we want to congratulate Hugh Martin for being voted our Athlete of the Month! Hugh has been with us since November of last year. Since the beginning, he has dedicated himself to working on his weaknesses and improving his strengths. Be it Mobility, Yoga, Nutrition Challenges, CrossFit or Olympic Lifting, Hugh has come to every class and seminar that he could. We also love to see our Soul family working hard on skills before class and asking the coaches for help. Hugh has improved so much in these few short months and we are glad to be a part of it. So congrats Hugh, enjoy one month at Soul for FREE and a FREE massage from Aimee!

  • Athlete of the Month – April 2013

    sofiaThis month we want to recognize Sofia Forteza as our athlete of the month! Sofia started with us out of somewhat necessity, in order to keep her bones strong and healthy. Exercising for health though, and committing in the way Sofia has are totally different! Since she started, Sofia has been extremely consistent with her attendance, and has even signed up for multiple competitions including our in-house competition with CrossFit 305/A1A, our Nutrition Challenge, and the CrossFit Open!

  • Athlete of the Month – March

    AndyThis month we want to congratulate Andy Rey for being voted out Athlete of the Month! Andy has become a well known face at our afternoon classes due to his consistency to training at Soul. The past month he has stepped it up even more, competing in one of our events and starting to focus more on his weightlifting. Andy has also become extremely coachable during his time here, never complaining when given advice and always willing to learn more. Congrats Andy!   • Athlete of the Month – Febuary

    This month we would like to congratulate Julissa Gil!

    Julissa has been a committed member of the Soul family for about a year now. Julissa’s dedication to her training has been a great motivation for those closest to her, and as a result, has inspired members of her family to also join Soul. About 6 months ago Julissa decided to focus her training on her favorite aspect of CrossFit, the Olympic lifts,  and has been training consistently with Team Soul Weightlifting and our coach, Camilo Garcia. Her strong devotion has helped her to improve by leaps and bounds, and most recently qualified her for the 2013 National Junior Weightlifting Championship. She will be heading to California this month to represent Team Soul in a big way! Needless to say, you deserve this title of Athlete of the Month. Enjoy your next month at Soul on us!

  • Athlete of the Month – January 2013!

    Happy New Year!!! This month we chose Jonathon Colorado!

    Jonathan joined Soul this summer and has already made some drastic improvements. He has been very consistent and dedicated to his training.  Jonathan shows up to classes early to work on his weakness by warming up well and jumping on the bar to do a few pull up negatives, practicing handstand push ups and even the candlesticks to squats and L-sits. This is the kind of work we love to see in our athletes!

    He is focused and a hard worker and it shows. Jonathan is a pleasure to have in our classes and we couldn’t be prouder. Congrats Jon, enjoy your next month of Soul classes on us!

  • Athlete of the Month – December!

    CONGRATULATIONS MARTHA, YOU’RE OUR ATHLETE OF THE MONTH!

    Martha has grown into a fierce competitor for Soul. Starting with our ATP Program, and quickly moving to CrossFit, Martha has found her competitive spirit and taken off with it. She has been a committed member and dedicated herself to her training, even participating in her first CrossFit competition recently and training for more. Although she’s had some bumps & bruises, she has become stronger and has continued to strengthen her skills.

    Not only is she committed to her own training, but she supports her team at local competitions, she’s there yelling and cheering everyone on through extreme heat and tough workouts.

    Thanks for the awesome support and never quit determination… You inspire us all to be better everyday! Enjoy your next month FREE, on us!

  • Athlete of the Month – November 2012

    CONGRATS HENRY!! You are our Athlete of the Month! 

     

    Henry started at our gym with all kinds of mobility issues (sorry dude!), but since then has made some big changes that have gained the attention of our coaches here at Soul. First off, since the beginning Henry has dedicated himself to the program and taken the suggestions of his coaches to help him with some of his issues. Frustrating as it might have been, he attended yoga and mobility classes to try to loosen up some of his tight spots. Henry has also been one of our most active members at events, regularly going to competitions inside and outside of the gym to support his fellow members. He has made big improvements in his Olympic Lifts and Gymnastic movements, and deserves to be named Athlete of the Month! Congrats Henry, enjoy your next month on us!!

  • Athlete of the Month – October!

    CONGRATS MARCELLA!!! You are our Athlete of the Month!

    This month we would like to highlight Marcella Billie as our AOTM. Marcella has been with us for about a year an a half and during that time, she has made some major improvements. Always here in the early morning (6am!) with a smile and ready to work, she has been a consistent member who will definitely continue to improve, the way she is going. Recently, Marcella has even started a supplemental gymnastics program to help her reach her goals. Keep up the good work Marcella, your dedication has earned the attention of all the coaches here.   • Athlete of the Month – September!

    Congrats Jeff Nunez, you are our Athlete of the Month!!

    Jeff joined us in April of this year, but we had the pleasure of coaching him in the past as well when he started CrossFitting a few years back. Obviously he has improved since then, but the gains we have seen since he joined our gym have been awesome. He has set major new records on almost all of his lifts, his technique has greatly improved, and his dedication to training and learning all he can has caused for all the coaches to notice him as Athlete of the Month! We are happy to have you as part of our Soul family, Jeff, and look forward to seeing what else you are capable of. Enjoy your next month of CrossFit on us!

  • Athlete of the Month – August

    This month we want to highlight Mabelle as our Athlete of the Month! Mabelle has been with us a little over a year, and in that time she has made huge improvements with her training! All of the coaches have taken note of her consistency, willingness to learn, and how she pushes herself to acquire new skills. That’s not where it stops though, she also takes part in competitions hosted by the gym, attends events, and meets with her fellow Soul members to participate in races. What more could you ask for in a member? Good nutrition… oh, she has that too! She is a great role model to other members and always has a good attitude.

    So congrats Mabelle, you truly deserve this recognition as our Athlete of the Month. Keep doing what you’re doing and enjoy your next month on us!

  • Athlete of the Month – July!!

    CONGRATS TO MIGUEL REYES!!!

    Since starting with us Miguel has been a very loyal member of our crew. Even though he came in with previous injuries, he has been able to see major changes in his strength, flexibility, and skill. From getting pull ups, toes to bar and handstand push ups, to increasing the weight (SLOWLY) on his lifts. Miguel has trusted his coaches to guide him in becoming a better athlete here at Soul, and it has definitely paid off! He can Rx a lot of the workouts now and continues to improve all the time. We look forward to continue helping you reach your goals!

  • Athlete of the Month – June!

    This month we want to congratulate Kirstin, one of our OG’s! She has been here from the very beginning, when there were only three people at 6am… can you even imagine that?!

    From the beginning Kirstin has dedicated her weeks to training every day and learning all that she can about technique, getting stronger, and working her skills like double unders, box jumps, pull ups, etc. She’s made huge improvements in all of these areas and continues to improve as the months pass. She has also been a huge part of our community here at Soul, supporting all of our in-house events, referring friends, and taking seminars.  This has been a long time coming, but congrats girl!!

  • Athlete of the Month – May

    This month we chose Juan as our Athlete of the Month… Juan has been here for about 5 months and ever since he started, has continued to be consistent with his training and skill work. He started his weight loss journey before coming into CrossFit Soul, and has continued to lose a total of 15 pounds over the months (Although we know he’s put on some muscle as well!)

    Every day we see Juan pushing himself to do the best he can in his workouts. He has become one of our regular morning dudes and we look forward to seeing him continue to improve. Congrats Juan, enjoy your next month of CrossFit on us!!!

  • ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – APRIL!

    This month we would like to highlight Barbi Gomez. Barbi started last June at CrossFit Soul during one of our group on-ramp classes. Since then she has dedicated most of her days to coming in to train whenever she can. Working on skills like double unders, pull ups, and handstand push ups, Barbi has gotten the attention of the coaches as having big potential for our competition team women during next years Open.

    She has also excelled with her weightlifting, focusing on pushing herself to increase her numbers on most lifts, and coming in on Olympic Weightlifting days to work her technique. All of this has helped her to become one of the best in a very short period of time. Congrats on being our Athlete of the Month, Barbi! Enjoy your next month at CrossFit Soul FREE!

  • Athlete of the Month – February!

    Congratulations Rollie!! You are one of our OG’s, and have come such a long way since starting. One of the most important things to your success has been the consistency of your training, followed later by your commitment to cleaning up your diet. Since those earlier days, you have become so involved in the community aspect of CrossFit as well, supporting your fellow members at events, participating in outside stuff like 5k’s, and promoting the hell out of this program that has transformed you!

    Your willingness to learn and desire to continue to do better here each day is what will help you to continue to progress here at Soul and outside of the gym as well. Congratulations, you are our Athlete of the Month!
