The Soul Purpose – Chip Walbert

In 2013, I was in the worst place I had been: mentally, emotionally and especially physically. I had always been athletic growing up but as I reached my mid-30s, I was at my all-time worst. Overweight, unmotivated, unhappy. For at least 2 years, every time I ran into Danny he would tell me to come to Soul, “just come out and try it”…but I would always find an excuse not to.⠀
⠀ ⠀
December 2013, I was given a 1-month trial by my wife. I waited until February of 2014 to actually go. Was it difficult? Of course…was it difficult to go back the next day? No, that was the easy part. What I found there was a group of like-minded people who wanted the same thing I did: to make a positive change in myself. Those people are the people I talk to all day, every day, my extended family. They were and are the reason I continued to show up. ⠀
⠀ ⠀
Fast forward to September 2018. I’m just shy of 40 and in the best shape of my life. I am still a regular, attending the afternoon class 5 days a week, doing my best to set a positive example to not only the regular members but the new members who choose to come in and join our family, making them feel welcome and part of the family.⠀
⠀ ⠀
Soul has given me so much that I will never be able to truly pay back everything. What I can do is hopefully be an example to anyone who was in the same place that I was. It’s never too late to make a positive change in yourself.⠀
⠀ ⠀
To this vision, I’m devoted, from the cradle to the grave
