November 10, 2018 – Starting Strength Training Camp

Spend the day learning the theory and practice of the low bar back squat with Starting Strength Coach Pete Troupos. The session will begin with a lecture focused on the basics of the movement and will include a discussion of the anatomy and forces at work in the lift. We will move into a practical session with plenty of time under the bar for all the lifters. Participants will have an opportunity to put into practice the concepts addressed in the lecture while receiving coaching through their warm up and work sets. Through the entire process, attendees will learn the hallmarks of a properly executed squat and how it should look and feel when it is performed correctly. After the practical session, we will return for a discussion of programming and how to identify and correct common technical problems. The camp will wrap up with a question and answer session.

What is/isn’t Mindfulness? What are the benefits? What is the science? All of this and more will be introduced and covered in this great 3-hour workshop with Lucas G. Irwin of REBEL Mindfulness. Mindfulness has the power to help us better manage stress, pain, addiction, improve productivity, be more present with the ones we love, appreciate our lives and so much more. This isn’t mystical thinking or hippie woo woo; this is scientifically-backed and accessible to us all.

Lucas will cover the basics, as well as provide guidelines and daily practices to help begin the process of becoming more mindful and improving quality of life. So much of our lives is governed by our auto-pilot… it’s time to take control.

Feb 2-3, 2019 – CrossFit Conjugate Methods Course

This course is for the athlete and trainer interested in learning the methods used by Louie Simmons of Westside Barbell and incorporating them into training. Participants learn about the Conjugate System: how to vary exercises, volume and loading to develop top-end strength. Emphasis is placed on the three major lifts: back squat, deadlift and bench press, although instruction is applicable to all strength training. The course also includes information on numerous assistance exercises and accommodating resistance (box squats, bands for lifts, sleds, ropes, etc.) All methods can be used with CrossFit to help increase one’s overall fitness.

 

March 30th – 31st, 2019 – CrossFit Weightlifting Course

Two days are spent detailing each lift (snatch on Day 1, clean and jerk on Day 2). The focus is on participants experiencing the basic positions and learning the foundational teaching points for instructing others to achieve them. The snatch and clean and jerk bring speed, power, coordination, agility, accuracy and balance to training and are indispensable to CrossFit programming and developing a well-rounded athlete.

 

May 4-5, 2019 – USAW Sports Performance Coach Certification – Level 1

The Advanced Sports Performance Coach Course is the second course in the Coaching Education Program.This course is applicable for those coaches seeking advanced knowledge to better themselves and their athletes. It is a requirement for weightlifting coaches seeking to attain the National Coach Rating.All individuals who successfully complete the course requirements will receive the USA Weightlifting Advanced Sports Performance Coach Certificate. Advanced Sports Performance Coaches that successfully complete the background check and Athlete Performance requirements will receive the USA Weightlifting National Coach Rating.
